Houston’s Little Known BIG Hair Secret - Jonas
Grimm
What brings one of New York City’s most
talented hair stylists to Northwest Houston, and more specifically, Jones
Road?
For the past five years, Jonas has tamed
the locks of some of Houston’s biggest hair – from Debra Grierson to Carolyn
Farb to Becca Cason Thrash. From his chairs at Adytum Salon E, and José Eber
he has transformed the hair of many Houston celebrities. These famous
Houstonites find it “so much easier to drive to Jones Road than hop on a
plane to NYC.” However, before coming to Houston, Jonas’ talent was honed in
none other than the fashion capital of the US, New York City.
The turning point in Jonas’ career came
when he moved to New York and began working at the infamous Bumble & Bumble
in Manhattan. He then became the right hand man of stylist to the stars,
Garren. Under the direction of his mentor, Jonas worked on photo shoots for
Vogue and Italian Vogue, and has colored and cropped the hair of the New
York elites. Garren is known as the preferred hairdresser of Vogue’s Anna
Wintour, Marc Jacobs, and Ana Sui. While working with Garren at his salon in
Henri Bendel’s, Jonas helped style the locks of Amber Valleta, Christi
Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Shalom Harlow, Kate Moss,
Cameron Diaz, and the list goes on. He worked on D&G, Clinique, and other
big name ad campaigns. Jonas knows his hair and has brought New York City
glamour back to our neighborhood.
You might wonder how Jonas spun his hair
fairytale while having no relation to the famed Grimm Brothers. This hard
working man has earned his stripes the American way –lots of elbow grease.
At sixteen, Jonas started barber school and at nineteen, he attended one of
best cosmetology schools in the nation, Sam Brocato’s Lockworks Academy.
After school, Jonas worked as a stylist and educator for Lockworks Salon and
The Gallery Salon, both in Baton Rouge.
At Sedora Salon on Jones Road, Jonas offers some of the
best secrets on the market. Rene Furterer product line and treatments are
luxurious and a secret weapon for protecting color. Great Lengths hair
extensions are one of Jonas’ specialties. Many of Houston’s “celebutantes”
owe their gorgeous locks to Great Lengths extensions.
So, why leave River Oaks, Post Oak, and New
York behind? The reason is simple: because being near the golden locks of
his precious three year old daughter, two year old son, and beautiful wife
is more tantalizing than those of any supermodel. After all, isn’t everyone
looking for the perfect family man to trim our bangs.
Houston is home to a very talented hair and
make-up stylist - Aubrey Grimm
From California to Louisiana to Texas,
Aubrey Grimm knows hair. Aubrey began her career in California before moving
southeast. Then she became the Paul Mitchell educator for the Gallery Salon
Day Spa. It was in Baton Rouge that Aubrey and Jonas became friends over a
mutual love for cut and color. Aubrey soon left to pursue training for Aveda
make-up artists at About Face. She then went on to work her magic at Studio
251 in Maryland; however, it was Aubrey’s desire to be close to her family
and gorgeous Texas hair that led her back to the Lone Star State. After
three years at the Alan Murphy Salon in Houston, Aubrey took some time off
to raise her children Sofia and Sebastian. Her brief hiatus from the hair
world was an uplifting and enlightening experience; however, Aubrey is ready
to get her hands back on some sheers.
Aubrey’s
individual talent and mutual love for hair and make-up are just a few
reasons why clients are constantly heading out to see her. It’s no secret
that a trip to Sedora Salons is a magical and relaxing experience. She works
magic with Great Length extensions and can transform your hair with
glimmering highlights. Aubrey specializes in cuts and color and is available
to meet all of your wedding or party needs: updos, make-up, and blowouts
galore.
